Descended from a family of olive growers, I developed the Masmoudi estate, a place I wanted to reflect our family heritage. At the estate, we produce extra-virgin oil from olive trees that we tend on a daily basis. I’ve been working in the tourism and hospitality sector since 2001, a passion that led me to set up Extra Virgin Travel to share my love of olive oil.

The spirit

The Masmoudi estate has a long and proud history handed down from one generation to the next. In 1920, my grandfather planted Henchir Sidi Salah. My father took over and looked after the olive trees and the estate. At present, I run the estate and the press with my family and other collaborators, all from my home village. Our estate covers 11 hectares, planted with 224 perfectly aligned olive trees, 26 m apart. 350 farmers live and work on site. Passionate about tourism, meeting people and olive oil from an early age, my idea is to share with you our passion, the history of our family and our estate, and to let you experience an exceptional culinary adventure.

We’ve got you covered…

09:30 – Arrival at Masmoudi estate. Welcome and meet the family before setting off for a walk through the olive grove. During this walk, you’ll be guided by a member of the family who will explain the history of the estate, the traditional mills, and the varieties and characteristics of our olive trees. You’ll help with harvesting. A friendly, family atmosphere with lots of singing and solidarity.

The tour continues in the oil mill, where you’ll learn about virgin, extra-virgin and organic oils, cold pressing, designations of origin, and many other details that will help you find your oil of choice the next time you come across a shelf of bottled gold.

At the end of the tour, you’ll enjoy a snack that will take you on a culinary journey of local Tunisian products from our region, including olive oil, dates, traditional Mléwi bread, eggs and the famous Tabouna, accompanied by Bsisa, Masfouf and Lablabi.
